She is native to the Northland, she graduated from NKC high school in 1982. Dr. Sonia Q. Scheerer earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry in 1993.  She served in the United States Navy active duty for 10 years.  Her tour consisted of Marine deployments, the Naval College in Rhode Island and overseas in Naples, Italy.  She was the #1 selectee for out service endodontic residency training for the US Navy.  Dr. Scheerer earned her Master of Science and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1999.  Her scientific research project was selected in the top ten for the American Association of Endodontists for graduate students and was published in the Journal of Endodontics in January 2001.  After the Navy, she returned home to Kansas City North where she started up  her private endodontic practice for 12 years in Zona Rosa area and taught part time at UMKC dental school.  She and her husband moved to Beaver Lake 2013 where she worked part time at the Veterans Health System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville and ran her own endodontic practice downtown Rogers, AR.  Kansas City is home so home is where she returned early December 2016.  Dr. Scheerer was born in Tacoma, Washington.  Her parents were born in Puerto Rico, and she is fluent in Spanish.  Dr. Scheerer and  her husband, Wayne,  have been married 32 years.  They have a son, a daughter and four grandkids.  Their son, Nick is an active duty Air Force electrical lineman.  Nick is stationed at Scott Air Force base.  Dr. Scheerer’s daugher, Lauren, is a Speech Pathologist  and is married to Danny Hawkins.  Lauren and Danny live in Kansas City, so does Dr. Scheerer's mother, siblings and most of her family.  Her hero remains her father, Romulo Quinones; he went to be with the Lord almost  6 years ago.  He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal recipient while  serving 30 years in the US Army.  Dr. Scheerer's grandson, Gavin Scheerer was diagnosed with leukemia this year.  Please keep our Gavin in your prayers for complete healing and remission.
